Going outside my comfort zone, I have experienced the most growth when I push myself to try new things and lean into the unknown. Embracing new challenges has allowed me to identify my priorities, recognize my strengths and create a clear plan for my future.

Something needed to change – after serving as the broker and owner of my family brokerage, it was time to reprioritize my life and build a professional identity of my own. Working through the pandemic to provide as many resources and training for my agents, I realized all my time was going toward business operations as opposed to my true passion: fostering relationships with agents and clients to forge a successful path forward.

In 2018, I unexpectedly found myself at a crossroads. My aunt and uncle, who had built and sustained our family brokerage, were ready to retire. Despite never aspiring to be a broker, I jumped right in, ready to preserve our family business and take over the challenge. I took on this new venture, motivated by my passion and determination to revive the business and uphold our industry name.

It was a demanding yet exciting experience. Managing the business proved to be anything but easy, but I had expected that. The responsibilities were immense, and I quickly realized that being a broker demanded constant attention and dedication. With three very young children at the time, Margaret, Mitch and Charlotte, it was hard to manage it all, yet somehow, I did it. My life was in a constant state of motion.

The responsibilities could be overwhelming at times, so I approached each day with a simple mantra: If I can pay my employees and pay my bills each month, I am doing good. There were so many goals and improvements I wanted to make, so it was important to keep myself grounded and remember at the end of the day, the business is doing great.

On this journey, I discovered my true passion was fostering partnerships with clients and working alongside my colleagues rather than simply leading them. I was willing to push myself and my fellow agents to get the very best out of everyone, but the title of “boss” never resonated with me. I wanted to be an integral part of the team, supporting and empowering others to achieve their goals.

The pandemic brought many challenges as we shifted to remote work. My agents needed more resources, training and tools than ever before. I decided to take a leap, transitioning my brokerage to eXp Realty, removing my responsibilities as a broker to focus on my team and the clients we work with. It was a huge decision, but it allowed me to focus on the things that matter most to me: my clients, agents, family and friends. Simply put, people will always be my specialty, and that is what I choose to focus on!

This transition was yet another turning point in my career, allowing me to rebrand and redefine my identity within the industry.

Looking back, I see that every challenge I faced as a broker and owner taught me the valuable lessons I needed in order to define my own passion and envision where I want to take my business. This has been an exciting new chapter, and I look forward to continuing the growth of my team!

Through all of this, my husband has been my rock. He is an endless source of positivity in my life, and I appreciate him endlessly for his understanding and unwavering support. Our lives can be quite busy with three kids, but we try to help one another find balance, making time for family, going to the gym and doing the things we love. I enjoy baking high-quality goodies for family, friends and clients – it is my love language and the best way to show appreciation for those in my life because none of this would be possible without them.
